Working with Archive Footage

Nixon-Premiere ScreenShot

A growing pool of archive footage is available online as more libraries and institutions are digitizing their collections. It makes me appreciate that I’m editing projects in this day and age.

This is the second short series that I’ve worked on that involved the use of archive footage. In many instances, it is still necessary to visit a physical place and speak to a librarian or research expert that can help locate items. The film or photographs require digging in a much more literal sense in an actual archival house to find reputable materials.

An area of personal development is digital restoration. I’ve found a lot of the documents out there are in need of some TLC.
